Porsche Vision Gran Turismo - the virtual racing car of the future

Since 2017 Porsche sports cars have been incorporated into the 'Gran Turismo' game, having been an exclusive feature of the 'Need for Speed' game for a long time prior to that.

For the launch of the seventh edition of the popular game from Polyphony Digital Inc, Porsche has produced a unique vehicle. The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo is the brand's first model designed specifically for video game use.

Set free from the constraints of series production, Porsche designers were able to create their vision of an electric concept-car which is designed for racing and high-performance. All the while preserving the spirit of Porsche sports cars and the Porsche DNA.

Thus there are obviously stylistic features from the most recent Porsche models, such as the Porsche 911 and the Porsche Taycan, but also it also encorporates elements from past sports models such as the Porsche 550 spyder and the Porsche 918 spyder.

While Porsche's concept-car was created solely for the digital world, the company has crafted a scaled prototype which hints that its design is a precursor to the brand's future electric sports cars. According to Peter Varga, design director at Porsche "The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo is more than just a gaming fantasy. It is a realistic look into the future that will certainly help us grow in the years to come."

For Porsche, the development in the gaming business is therefore of strategic importance. "We are going to search out target groups of young people and digital enthusiasts right where their automotive dreams are born, that is at game level", explains Robert Ader, Vice President of Marketing at Porsche.

Video games and the virtual world offer Porsche new opportunities for authentic, emotionally rich experiences and help create a lasting brand experience. Thereby Porsche Vision Gran Turismo is definitely a milestone in the history of Porsche.
