At the beginning of the 1960s, all Porsche staff members were mobilized to define the car that was to succeed the 356. The guideline was clear: to bring as many innovations as possible, without distorting the spirit of the brand, especially regarding the Body design. This prototype, developed in early 1963, is nicknamed " the bat ", or even " the Porsche Batmobile " because of its fins, intended to camouflage the line of the model. The camouflage is completed by a matt green paint, identical to that used by the NATO armed forces. The flat 6 engine is already present, making this car one of the very first 901. Like any prototype, its destiny will be fatal : the scrapping !
