Benjamin Freudenthal has been drawing since his childhood. Fascinated by the magic of the aviation scenes represented on the model boxes of his childhood, his heart oscillates between planes and cars. He explains that for a painting to be successful, the landscape matters more than the subject: "If you capture the air temperature, the time of day (to the hour), and the speed of a car, then you are in the presence of a great painting. There is still the originality of the composition, a determining factor, so that all the ingredients are present.

This painting is a tribute to the runner-up in the race: Müller and Attwood (GULF) finished quite far behind the car of Marko and van Lennep (MARTINI). It must be said that the latter are about to set a speed record that will stand for 39 years! The Porsche 917 is considered by many to be the best racing car of the 1970s. Some even called it the race car of the century. This year 1971 sees the realization of the film "Le Mans" in which Steve MacQueen interprets the role of a pilot on the return who engages in Le Mans with... a Porsche 917.
