The Porsche 934 Turbo No. 70 won the GT class at the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing 17th overall. This victory was achieved thanks to the crew of Thierry Perrier, Valentin Bertapelle and Bernard Salam. The car was equipped with a Porsche 930/71 2.9L Turbo Flat-6 engine, developing approximately 485 horsepower, and fitted with Michelin tyres. It completed 274 laps, or approximately 3,733.5 km, at an average speed of 155.56 km/h. The fastest lap was set by Valentin Bertapelle in 4 minutes 21.8 seconds, at an average speed of 187.37 km/h.

A distinctive feature of this victory was the choice of fuel. The No. 70 Porsche 934 Turbo used Carburol, a mixture of 85% petrol and 15% beet alcohol, a fuel banned by international regulations but specifically authorised for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This strategy optimised engine performance while complying with the constraints imposed by the race regulations.

This performance demonstrated the reliability and competitiveness of the Porsche 934 Turbo in endurance racing, consolidating Porsche's reputation in the field of motor racing.
