The Story – François Cevert

François Cevert was a French racing driver nicknamed "The Prince" for his kindness and his movie-star looks. Destined for a brilliant Formula 1 career in the 1970s, he died at the age of 29 following a crash during qualifying for the United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, the site of his first victory two years earlier.

Born on February 25, 1944, in Paris, François Cevert could have become an actor, but he chose a much riskier path: motor racing. Upon returning from his military service, this 22-year-old driving ace won the "Volant Shell" competition held at the famous Nevers Magny-Cours circuit. In 1968, he won the French Formula 3 championship. The following year, his talent shone brightly in Formula 2 when he won the Reims Grand Prix, beating none other than Jackie Stewart. Impressed by this feat, Ken Tyrrell recruited the young Frenchman to his Tyrrell Racing team. François Cevert made his Formula One debut in 1971 alongside Jackie Stewart. His first steps were a success, culminating in a victory at the United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. The promising young driver honed his skills in Formula One and finished second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1973, Jackie Stewart's model teammate had a more than promising season with no fewer than seven podium finishes. On the sidelines of the final race of the season at Watkins Glen, François Cevert was involved in a crash during qualifying. This tragic accident claimed the life of the 29-year-old driver on October 6, 1973, a day that has become a day of mourning for motorsport.

The product – Warson Motors François Cevert Blue T-shirt

This T-shirt pays tribute to François Cevert, a great French F1 hopeful in the early 1970s, teammate and designated successor to Jackie Stewart at Tyrrell before his death at the 1973 United States Grand Prix. The Cevert Blue shade is close to a bright blue, associated with the French racing colors, a direct nod to his identity as a driver and the aesthetics of the single-seaters of that era.

This Warson T-shirt is a men's 100% cotton tee in blue. Part of the Warson Motors vintage racing line, it highlights the Cevert name and graphic references to his career, for a piece that's easy to wear every day while showcasing a sophisticated 1970s F1 culture.
