The Story – Jo Siffert

Under the affectionate nickname of Jo Siffert, or Seppi, Joseph Siffert (1936-1971) embodied perseverance and success in the world of motor racing. Born into a modest family in the lower town of Fribourg – his father was a garage owner – Jo Siffert began competing first on motorcycles. In 1959, he became the Swiss champion in the 350cc class. The following year, he began competing in motorsport while continuing to work. He started a used car dealership, which allowed him to finance his passion for cars, albeit with difficulty.

Jo Siffert dedicated a large part of his career to endurance racing, achieving numerous victories, including the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1968 and the 1000 km of Nürburgring in 1968 and 1969. He also competed in 96 Formula 1 World Championship Grands Prix between 1962 and 1971. Jo Siffert is one of only three Swiss drivers, along with Clay Regazzoni and Emmanuel de Graffenried, to have won a Formula 1 race.

On October 24, 1971, he was killed at the wheel of his car during a non-championship Formula 1 race at the Brands Hatch circuit.

The Product – Warson Motors Jo Siffert Windbreaker Jacket, Light Blue

This jacket pays homage to Jo Siffert and the world of endurance racing and historic car meets, where drivers spend time in the paddocks in all kinds of weather, from light rain and wind to cool temperatures. The idea is to offer a functional piece, reminiscent of the lightweight jackets an enthusiast would wear while driving their classic car on the road or during a hill climb, rather than a simple lifestyle jacket.

The Jo Siffert jacket is a windbreaker lined with polyester, resistant to light rain but not 100% waterproof, making it suitable for both men and women. It features a very sporty light blue color, with Jo Siffert branding, and can be easily layered over a Siffert hoodie or polo shirt for a cohesive look at car meets or for everyday wear in a classic car.
