Terrence Stephen McQueen, nicknamed the « King of Cool » was an american actor and one of the most interesting and enigmatic figures of 20th century popular culture. His antihero persona, emphasized during the height of the counterculture of the 1960s, made him a top box-office draw during the 1960s and 1970s. Steve McQueen was a big fan of motorsports and hiùself performed several stunts in his films. His need for speed propelledhim from Hollywood into a number of top off-road motorcycle races, including the baja 1000, mint 400 and elsinore grand prix ans his movie characters always had a great motorcycle or car. It is this passion that is bahind the movie « Le Mans » in which McQueen is heavily involved and that he considered to be a centerpiece of his career. When asked why it is so important to drive a care fastest, McQueen’s character replies « Racing is life. Everything that happens before or after is just waiting ».
