Audi A4 DTM a true success story (2004 to 2008)

When we think of AUDI, we are thinking of a brand that is part of the history of the DTM, it was almost always present in all editions of this touring competition where the main German brands such as AUDI, OPEL, BMW and Mercedes predominate.

The Model A4 was undoubtedly one of the most successful models of the brand, starting its presence in 2004 with 6 pilots divided into 3 different teams: Team ABT; Sportsline ABT and Team Joest officially supported by AUDI Sport, in this debut year the Swede M.Ekstrom stood out from the other competitors by achieving the pilots' title, T.Kristensen and M.Tomczyk were other AUDI pilots highlighted by achieving the 4th and 5th place respectively, with this performance the Audi Sport team ABT also won the absolute title of teams.

In 2005 Audi reinforced its bet in this case with 8 cars on the track, despite only 4 cars being new and the other 4 being the 2004 version, M. Ekstrom was once again its best representative, winning 2nd position and M .Tomczyk in 3rd however the absolute titles of drivers and teams ended up in the hands of rival Mercedes.

In 2006, with OPEL's withdrawal from the championship, the organization had to invent a formula and request in a short time that AUDI and MERCEDES put 10 cars each, this reality took some shine to the competition as cars of various versions of 04 and 05 and the most evolutionary of 06, to mix things up even more there were pilots who would not even do all the tests which removed some competitiveness, M.Tomczyk with the 4th final was the best A4 in competition and Mercedes was champion by drivers and teams.

In 2007 the formula was repeated with 10 times Audi on the track, in this case 4 with evolutions of 07 and the rest of 05 and 06, in this particular, nothing more than 14 drivers passed through the wheel of the A4 throughout the races and witnessed the rebirth of M.Ekstrom who won a new title and his team AUDI Team ABT Sportsline won by teams.

In 2008, once again with AUDI (10 cars) and MERCEDES (10) on the track, almost a single-make trophy, a reality that was naturally in everyone's eyes, hence the urgent need for a third brand to return to this championship with the risk of it becoming becoming monotonous, the AUDI T.Scheider's dauphin was not begged and imposed itself before the mythical and experienced DTM drivers by getting the necessary points to be champion, already his team let the title slip again to Mercedes.
