The Ford GT40 Mk II entered in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans with the number 5 was driven by Americans Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson for the Holman & Moody team, amidst the intense rivalry between Ford and Ferrari. This GT40 Mk II No. 5 finished 3rd in the 1966 edition behind the two other factory GT40s, completing Ford's historic 1-2-3 finish and contributing to the American marque's first victory at Le Mans after several years of Ferrari dominance.
