The Lotus 97T #12 driven by Ayrton Senna at the 1985 Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most iconic single-seaters of the turbo era and the burgeoning career of the Brazilian driver. In the Monegasque rain, Senna delivered one of his first legendary performances, finishing second after a spectacular comeback.

The 97T was powered by a 1.5-liter Renault turbo V6, capable of producing over 800 hp in racing configuration, coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This package made it an extremely powerful and demanding machine, typical of the turbo F1 cars of the mid-1980s. The lightweight chassis, the refined aerodynamics (prominent wings, sculpted sidepods), and the precarious traction in the wet made Senna's performance in Monaco even more impressive.

Visually, the Lotus 97T is distinguished by its now-iconic black and gold livery, here bearing Senna's number 12, with its low, aggressive lines typical of the era. The cockpit is minimalist, driver-focused: a molded seat, a simple steering wheel, and mechanical controls, reminiscent of the raw, pure feel of 1980s Formula 1.
