The Benz Patent-Motorwagen, widely regarded as the world's first true automobile, revolutionized modern mobility. Designed by German engineer Karl Benz, it was officially patented on January 29, 1886. Unlike earlier steam-powered attempts, this three-wheeled vehicle was powered by a four-stroke internal combustion engine. Its lightweight steel-tube frame and wire-spoke wheels mirrored the bicycle construction of the era.

Producing a modest 0.75 horsepower, it reached a top speed of approximately 16 km/h. It was primarily thanks to the historic long-distance journey by Bertha Benz, Karl’s wife, that the vehicle's reliability was proven to the public. This 106-kilometer trip marked the beginning of the commercial automotive era. Today, it remains the ultimate symbol of technical audacity and the transition from horse-drawn carriages to engines.
