It retains the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine—producing 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque—paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel-drive system. It is primarily distinguished from the standard G 63 by its raised chassis and portal axles.

These axles utilize gear reduction at the wheels, positioning the drive shafts higher than the wheel hubs. This architecture increases ground clearance to 351 mm and allows for a fording depth of 910 mm. Carbon-fiber fender flares, large wheels, and protective elements complete a silhouette that is significantly more imposing than that of the standard G-Class.
