Real Model – Porsche 908/2 n° 29 – 24h Le Mans 1970

The Porsche 908/2 No. 29 entered in the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the most unique cars in the event's history. Owned by Solar Productions—Steve McQueen’s company—it was specially modified into a camera car to film actual race footage for the movie *Le Mans*, released in 1971. Chassis 908-022, previously driven by Steve McQueen and Peter Revson to a second-place finish at the 1970 12 Hours of Sebring, was fitted with three Arriflex cameras: one at the front and two at the rear, positioned above the gearbox.

Driven by Porsche factory driver Herbert Linge and British driver Jonathan Williams, the dark blue No. 29 Porsche 908/2 started from 31st position and completed 282 laps—approximately 3,798 km. It crossed the finish line ninth overall and second in the P3.0 class but was not officially classified; the multiple stops required to change film reels prevented it from covering the minimum distance mandated by the regulations. This Porsche has thus become one of the most famous vehicles in automotive cinema.

Miniature – Porsche 908/2 n° 29 9th 24h Le Mans 1970 Camera Car 1/18 Werk83 (W18063002)

This 1:18 scale Werk83 model replicates the Team Solar Productions Porsche 908/2 (3.0-liter) No. 29 from the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by Herbert Linge and Jonathan Williams. Bearing reference number W18063002, it features the dark blue livery of Steve McQueen’s camera car, complete with race number 29, Solar Productions markings, and the aerodynamic details of the 908/2 spyder. The large 1:18 scale highlights the open cockpit, low windshield, rounded wheel arches, center-lock wheels, and—above all—the specialized filming equipment installed for the movie's production.
