The Porsche 911 Carrera RSR #44 was entered in the 1973 24 Hours of Le Mans by the crew of Jean-François Piot and Peter Zbinden, in the highly competitive GT 3.0 class. Based on the new Carrera RSR 2.8, it embodies the generation of 911 race cars that would cement Porsche's dominance in GT racing during the 1970s, with a powerful naturally aspirated flat-six engine and excellent endurance.
