At the 1972 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Porsche 911 ST 2.5 No. 45 was entered by the French team ASA des Damiers to defend the colors of the 911 in the GT category. Entrusted to the duo of Dominique Bardini and Lee Banner, the small naturally aspirated 911 took on the Sarthe classic against much more powerful prototypes and crossed the finish line at the end of the 24 hours, adding another line to the already impressive list of privately entered 911s at Le Mans in the early 1970s.
