It is absolutely monstrous but yet it is the most beautiful Porsche 935 ever !
Seen through the prism of the 911, from which it is derived, the 1978 Porsche 935 Moby Dick is like a monster, not so much in appearance as in mechanics. With its tubular frame, 2 turbos and 850 hp water-cooled engine, it had something to terrify - and defeat - the challengers, even in the higher categories.
Instantly recognizable for its hypertrophied bodywork attributes and the banging noise of its supercharged 6-cylinder engine, it has become one of the most extraordinary race machines ever created. During the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1978, it was with its 367 km / h speed the fastest car on the race, ahead of the Porsche 936 and Alpine Renault prototypes with optimized aerodynamics. Its power was so crazy that no 5-speed gearbox could have cashed it.
Its record and its longevity in competition are eloquent: in ten years, 1/3 of the participations resulted in victories, all categories combined. The official 1978 model, reproduced here at 1:12 scale, is presented in the Martini Racing livery, emblematic of its era.
