The idea to make customized jewellery for motor-sport enthusiasts came while glass-artist, Sue Corfield, was reflecting on how much nice clothing there is for avid fans, yet there was absolutely nothing in the way of high-quality, customised jewellry for ladies who wanted something original to wear. In her glass-working studio, she created a necklace in the Martini colours, wanting it to be an elegant, sophisticated fusion of the iconic blue, navy and red. To create this pendant, she selected dichoric glass, which was initially used in the space industry, and uses glass treated with various metal oxides. The glass is fused at high temperature in a glass kiln, and the resulting pendant is composed of two layers, whereby the dichoric layer displays subtle sheens and reflections, which vary depending on the angle you view it from. Combining the classic Martini colours, the resulting pendant is both eclectic and intriguing, while the annealing process guarantees it is absolutely individual piece of glass art, no two will ever be the same. Mounted on a 925/1000 silver chain, 44 cms in length.
