Real Model – Peugeot 908 HDi-FAP n° 9 – 24h Le Mans 2009
The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP is a closed-cockpit (coupé) LMP1 prototype developed by Peugeot Sport. It is built around a carbon monocoque chassis and powered by a mid-rear-mounted 5.5-liter V12 HDi turbo-diesel engine. This in-house V12 develops approximately 650 hp with very high torque and is paired with a sequential gearbox and an FAP (diesel particulate filter) emissions control system—hence its name.
At the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans, Peugeot fielded three factory 908s plus a privately entered Pescarolo 908, engaging in a highly anticipated duel against the Audi R15 TDIs. The No. 9 car—driven by Brabham, Gené, and Wurz—took the lead after about five hours of racing and never relinquished it, covering 382 laps (5,206 km) at an average speed of 216 km/h and securing Peugeot’s third Le Mans victory (following wins in 1992 and 1993).

The 1:43 scale Spark model of the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP No. 9 faithfully captures the prototype's very low, angular silhouette: a flat nose, a closed bubble cockpit, sculpted flanks, and a rear section featuring a large diffuser and wing. The Peugeot Sport Total livery is accurately reproduced, featuring a dominant dark blue color scheme with black and silver accents, Total/Peugeot/Michelin logos, and the number 9 displayed in white on a red background.
The model features the typical details expected from Spark at this scale: racing wheels, slick tires, side mirrors, air intakes, headlights and taillights, as well as the small technical markings on the fenders and rear bodywork. Through the windows, the minimalist racing cockpit is visible, making this miniature a fine, compact representation of the 908 that won the 2009 Le Mans race.
